The 80s Soul & Funk Era That Taught Me About High Vibration Music (Before I Knew What Hz Meant)
Long before I discovered angel frequencies, healing Hz, and the science behind why certain music makes us feel a certain way, I was just a young woman in the 80s who knew one thing for sure: some high vibration music touched my soul differently.
I left school in 1985, and the music of that era wasn’t just a soundtrack to my life—it was teaching me about frequency, vibration, and empowerment before I even had the language for it.
Looking back now, with everything I understand about healing frequencies like 444 Hz and how sound affects our energy, I can see why those songs made me feel so free, brave, and alive. They were operating on a frequency that opened my heart and expanded my soul.
Let me take you back to three tracks that changed everything for me.

80s Soul and Funk High Vibration Music That Has Impacted Me
1. Sybil – “When I’m Good and Ready”
The Stats:
- BPM: 118-120
- Key: Bb Minor
There was something about Sybil’s voice and this track that made me feel empowered. The groove, the bass foundation, the way she delivered those lyrics with such strength and conviction—it wasn’t just a song, it was a statement.
“When I’m Good and Ready” had that perfect mid-tempo groove (around 118-120 BPM) that let you sway, rock, and really feel the music move through your body. Not too fast, not too slow—just enough movement to let the message sink deep into your soul.
And that key? Bb Minor. I didn’t know it then, but minor keys create that emotional, soulful depth that touches something real inside us. It’s the sound of transformation, of knowing your worth, of standing in your power.
This song taught me that music could make you feel ready—ready for anything.
2. Shannon – “Let the Music Play”
The Stats:
- BPM: 115-118
- Key: Bb Minor
If there was ever a song that embodied pure freedom, it was this one.
Shannon’s “Let the Music Play” was smooth, flowing, and absolutely uplifting. That bassline? Iconic. The way the groove just carried you along, making you feel like you could do anything, be anyone, go anywhere.
Again, that mid-tempo range (115-118 BPM) and that same emotionally rich Bb Minor key. There’s a pattern here, isn’t there? These songs were all operating on the same wavelength—literally.
The lyrics spoke about letting go, about allowing the music to take over and guide you. Years later, when I learned about frequency healing and how certain sounds can shift our energy and open our hearts, I realized: that’s exactly what this song was doing. It was asking me to surrender to the vibration, to let the frequency move through me.
This song taught me that music could set you free.
3. Shalamar – “A Night to Remember”
The Stats:
- BPM: 109
- Key: Bb Minor
Shalamar brought the funk, the soul, and that undeniable groove that made you want to move.
“A Night to Remember” had a slightly slower tempo (109 BPM), but that just made it even more hypnotic. You could really feel every beat, every note, every layer of sound building that emotional, soulful atmosphere.
Once again: Bb Minor. The same key that creates that depth, that emotional resonance, that feeling of being held and uplifted at the same time.
This trio—Jody Watley, Howard Hewett, and Jeffrey Daniel—knew how to create music that didn’t just entertain, it transformed you. It made you feel good, made you feel brave, made you feel like the night (and your life) was full of possibility.
This song taught me that music could make you feel alive.
What I Know Now That I Didn’t Know Then About High Vibration Music
Here’s the beautiful thing: all three of these tracks share the same musical DNA.
- Bb Minor key = emotional, soulful depth
- Mid-tempo groove (109-120 BPM) = perfect balance for movement, for swaying, for feeling the music in your body without it being too fast or overwhelming
- Strong bass foundations = grounding, heart-opening, soul-expanding
These songs were all working on the same frequency—not just musically, but energetically.
Years later, when I discovered angel frequencies (111 Hz, 444 Hz, 999 Hz) and started seeing 444 everywhere—on car registrations, on clocks—I understood. I was being reminded that I’m protected and safe, just like those songs made me feel back in the 80s.
I learned that house music, the genre I fell deeply in love with, was never tampered with. Its keys and top lines are perfect for heart opening and soul expansion. Just like those 80s soul and funk tracks were.
The music I loved in the 80s wasn’t just entertainment. It was preparing me, it was teaching me, it was showing me what high vibration music feels like, decades before I had the science to explain it.

From Then to Now – High Vibration Music Is Still With Me
By the early 90s, I was performing on Top of the Pops in the UK, singing live in an era when so many tracks were programmed and pre-recorded. I’m proud of that. I stayed authentic to what those 80s songs taught me: real emotion, real voice, real connection.
Music had changed. It got faster, more repetitive, more programmed. But I never forgot what I learned from Sybil, Shannon, Shalamar, and all those other soul and funk artists who showed me that music could be a healing force.
Now, I create music tuned to different Hz frequencies—like 444 Hz—because I want to give people that same feeling those 80s tracks gave me: empowerment, freedom, and transformation.
I always knew certain music felt different.
Decades later, I discovered why.
And now, I’m honored to create music that carries that same high vibration energy forward.
