From Barracks to Eurodance Stages: My 30-Year Dream

30 years ago, my life changed.

That same week I joined a 90s Eurodance group, I was also offered a solo contract with Sony. Talk about crossroads.

At the time, I was 23, living in Germany. By day, I worked as a secretary for the Royal Military Police in a British Army Barracks. By night (and weekends), I sang at parties/functions. And every lunch break, I ran 6 miles — the fittest I’d ever been.

For years, I’d dreamt and visualised being famous. Singing and songwriting weren’t just hobbies for me, they were my passion, my life.

And then it happened.

From Barracks to Eurodance Stages: My 30-Year Dream

The Dream and the Burnout

When I joined the Eurodance group, the hit single was already climbing the German charts — but it had been recorded by another studio singer who wasn’t part of the official line-up. They needed a front vocalist — and that’s how I joined.

I started touring the world, and appearing 3 times of the iconic British Top Of The Pops show. Here’s the video…

So yep, the front lady with short hair has always been me, Elyse G. Rogers, although at the time, my name was Linda Meek.

I actually changed my first name from Linda to Elyse G. and got married over 17 years ago to my husband David Rogers… And I grew my hair but it’s still me.

You can learn more about my story and the truth behind the glam, as well as what the music industry doesn’t want you to know in my book called

Here’s a picture, shout out to rapper Twitch who’s been touring the world and rocking (or actually rapping) the stage with me since 2018.

The Less Glamorous Side Of The Dream

My music lawyer at the time warned me: “If you sign that contract, in three years you’ll be one unhappy girl.”

She was right.

I toured the world solidly for two years. On the outside, it looked like the dream — lights, stages, fans, travel.

But inside? I was burning out.

When it all ended, I was left exhausted and alone.

The Full Circle Moment When the Dream Came True

But life’s funny, isn’t it?

In 2016, after years of silence, I reconnected with the original music producer. By 2017, we agreed I would officially front the band. Our first shows were booked — and suddenly, the spark was back.

Fast forward to 2024, and I’m proud to say my dream finally came true: 3 brand new remixes of our biggest Eurodance hit.

It took me 30 years. 1994 to 2024. But the moment arrived.
